探究突发公共事件背景下美国公共图书馆开展的非常规应急信息服务经验，可从中获得相应启示，继而对我国公共图书馆实现社会价值并更加科学合理地提供应急信息服务具有重要的现实意义。文章运用内容分析和网络调查法，从美国应急信息服务的相关政策、服务方式、服务资源、服务内容和服务人群等方面开展调研。借鉴美国公共图书馆应急信息服务经验，提出我国公共图书馆应急信息服务水平的提升路径：政策引领明确应急信息服务地位、多元化形式促进应急信息传播与利用、专业培训优化应急信息服务队伍、多层级协作形成应急信息服务网络、扩大服务人群满足应急信息服务需求。
