文章选取美国公共图书馆低幼儿童馆员的两种教育方式：一是通过高校教育培养，从儿童及青年服务方向和低幼儿童/儿童相关课程2个角度进行阐述和分析；二是通过继续教育培养，归纳美国在低幼儿童馆员继续教育方面具有自上而下层层提供、网络资源形式多样和内容丰富覆盖全面3个特点。通过比较分析，归纳得出低幼儿童馆员在两种教育方式下所能习得的知识，为我国开展公共图书馆低幼儿童馆员教育提供3点建议：允许选修低幼儿童相关专业的课程、注重图书馆与高校合作开发课程、以培训师培训法培养低幼儿童馆员。
